The Center is proud to have played a major role in creating a new museum in the historic Rutherford County Courthouse in downtown Murfreesboro. A ribbon-cutting was held on November 21 to celebrate this successful partnership project, and Center director Dr. Carroll Van West spoke about the local community’s shared history. The Rutherford County Archives will manage the museum, which is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM. Major contributors to the museum include Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron, Dr. E.C. and Barbara Tolbert, the African American Heritage Society of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County, Owen and Sara West, and the Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County.
